Help the Police Fight Youth Crime Competition 2008

Among 130,000 competitors, S.3 Wan Fong-ying Fiona has won the championship in Help the Police Fight Youth Crime Competition 2008 organized by Hang Seng Bank and Hong Kong Police. She was awarded HK$3,000 cash.

Lion & Globe Educational Trust

H.K. Outstanding Students Award

S.4 Lee Yu-yan Carmen has been selected one of the ten awardees of the “2007-2008 Hong Kong Outstanding Students Awards” organized by the Lion & Globe Educational Trust. Her prize includes a Certificate of Distinction and an invitation to a leadership training summer camp. She thanks the school, her teachers and parents for their endless support and encouragement, and will continue to strive tougher in the future.

The 22nd Statistical Project Competition for Secondary School Students

10 S6 students divided into two teams participated in the Statistical Project Competition (SPC) for Secondary School Students organized by the Hong Kong Statistical Society (HKSS) and the Education Bureau. Nancy Chan, Jane Lai, Michelle Lee, Eric Wong and Denis Wong, whose project is titled "天水「悲」城", won the first prize, while William Chan, Alex Chau, Homan Lee, Peggy Tang and Neil Wong, whose project is titled "香港人口及住戶的變遷" won the second prize.

'Sichuan Earthquake Disaster' Mourning Activities

The Sichuan earthquake disaster pulls at everyone’s heartstrings all over the world and it is part of life education as well as national education. A three-day mourning period starting from 18th May, 2008 to 20th May, 2008 was announced.

Lee Ying-Shih, our alumna, was in the HK Olympic Torch lineup

Former Hong Kong elite athlete Vivian LEE Ying-shih graduated in our school in 1996. She was a Hong Kong record holder in swimming. In 1994, Vivian, a member of the women’s swimming team, won a Silver medal in 4X100 Freestyle Relay in Asian Games-Hiroshima, bringing great honour to Hong Kong. She was one of the torch bearers in the Hong Kong’s Olympic torch relay to spread the Olympic spirit. Being seven months pregnant, she lifted the torch high with her baby girl in her womb. This has become the talk of the city.

The captioned competition, organized by the Education Bureau, aims at bringing out students' perseverance in line with the spirit of the Olympics, enhancing their knowledge about the motherland and fostering their national identity.

The New Zealand Student Ambassador Programme 07-08

After the final selection interview, our Form 7 student Lo Man-wah was chosen as one of the twelve Runners-up of the “New Zealand Student Ambassador Programme 07-08” jointly organised by the Education Bureau, New Zealand Trade & Enterprise, the Hong Kong Wing On Travel Service Limited and the English Street, Hong Kong Economic Times. She will attend a three-week tailor-made programme in New Zealand this summer, which provides her a perfect change to broaden her horizons and promote cultural exchange of New Zealand and Hong Kong.




Create + Play

Games and Toys Design Competition

In December 2007, four of our S.6 students, Lee Yiu-shing Philip, Yung Chi-yan, Wong Tin-po and Cheng Pok-him, together with two teachers, Mr. Ng Hon-wai and Mr. Lee Cheuk-wa, joined the "Create + Play Games and Toys Design Competition" organized by the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Eventually, the group won the Silver Prize and the Most Creative Award. The prizes include two trophies, Certificates of Merit and a scholarship of HK$23,000.

Open Day - Know China, Know your heart

The whole school was full of laughter and festive atmosphere as it opened its door to the public on 7th March, 2008. 'Know China, Know your heart' is the theme of this year's Open Day, hoping to provide our students and the public with a chance to understand various facets of our motherland.

Hok Yau Club Outstanding Student Leaders Selection

Despite the keen competition among secondary school students from Form 4 to Form 7, S.4 LAM Po-pui has been selected as one of the twenty awardees in the Outstanding Student Leaders Election organized by Hok Yau Club, for her excellent performance in leadership and social services.

The Women’s Foundation Leadership Award for Female Student Leader

The Women’s Foundation presented an award to an outstanding female student leader in Hong Kong this year. Since S.4 LAM Po-pui has shown excellent leadership skills, strong motivation and dedication to mentorship amongst her peers, she has been selected as the Female Student Leader. She was invited to attend The Women’s Foundation Leadership Dinner at the Four Seasons Hotel in February. She is also offered a summer internship at The Women’s Foundation and HK$2,000 for her achievement.

The 40th anniversary dinner attended by more than 1000 (93 tables) guests and shareholders, including past and current staff, students and parents, marked a memorable evening full of joy and laughter.

40th School Anniversary Speech Day

Our school held its annual Speech Day on 20th December, 2007, celebrating a highly successful year of scholarship and wide-ranging achievements. We were greatly honoured by the presence of Mr. Michael Suen Ming-yeung, GBS, JP., Secretary for Education, and Hon. Lau Wong-fat, GBM, GBS, JP.

The 38th annual sports day

Athletes had done warm-up exercise to prepare themselves well. Cheering teams had got colourful pom-pom to have a good show. Other students were waiting for exciting competitions to start. Unexpectedly, drizzle came and the sports day had to be delayed.

Great Achievements in Yuen Long District Inter-school Swimming Competition

The 2007-2008 Yuen Long District Inter-school Swimming Competition was held on the 15th and 16th of October, 2007. A total of 563 students of 110 teams from 35 schools participated in the competition. Our own school team achieved remarkable results in both the individual and relay events.

Judo & Taekwondo Championship

Our school strives to provide students with an all-round education and physical development. In the past few months, our students have obtained excellent results in external competitions. The students include: Wu Chun Yeung (2B), and Yip Hiu Tung (1E) who has just been a member of the Heung Chung’s family.
