The 3rd Yuen Long District Outstanding Primary School Students Award (2008/2009)
Prize-giving Ceremony
The 3rd Yuen Long District Outstanding Primary School Students Award prize-giving ceremony was successfully held on 10th May, 2009 in Yuen Long Theater.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of the chairman of New Territories Heung Yee Kuk, Mr. Lau Wong-fat, GBM, JP,
member of the Executive Council and the Legislative Council. The presence of the honourable Mr. Tam Chi-yeun, JP, the Under Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau and Mr. Lai Tung-chai, Chief School Development Officer (YL) of EDB as guests of Honour,
added prestige to the event.

Open Day - 'Explore the World, Create a brighter future'
'Explore the world, Create a brighter future' was the theme for this year's Open Day. During this joyful occasion,
we are pleased to open our doors to the public and give them a glimpse at what happens on a daily basis here at our school on 6th March, 2009.
It was the best kind of learning experience to our students to learn about and explore the world.
Guests were impressed by the excellent team spirit of the staff, the warm support of parents, alumni and the endearing performers.

Silver Award of Sustainable Development School Award Programme
Our school has received a Silver Award for participating in the 2007-2008 Sustainable Development School Award Programme,
organized by the Council for Sustainable Development. The effort made by the teachers and students in planning and organizing the activities to promote "sustainable development " throughout the 15-month period is much appreciated by the Judging Panel.
Our School Environmental Education Protection Team has made significant contributions to demonstrate the concept of "sustainable development " to all students. Our students, CHAN Ka-ho and LEUNG Ka-chun, have represented our school to receive the award from Mr. TAI Hay-lap, BBS, JP, Member of the Council for Sustainable Development and Education and Publicity Sub-committee.

60th Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival
Four Trophies for Heung Chung!
Having attained five trophies in the 59th Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival,
our school once again achieved outstanding results in the 60th Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival,
including “Tsik Pak Sun Trophy” (植柏燊盃),
“The Xianggang Putonghua Yanxishi Ltd. Trophy”(香港普通話研習社盃)and “The 60th Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival Trophy”(第60屆香港學校朗誦節盃).
More than 400 students participated in the competition, attaining six champions, five 1st runners-up, eleven 2nd runners-up and thirty Certificates of Merit.

Our school received the award of ‘The performance of the Best JPC School Club (Secondary) Award in Yuen Long District 07/08’.
This award aims at giving due recognition to the most dedicated JPC School Club with the most outstanding performance.
Our JPC School Club made every effort in assisting the police in the fight against crime, actively participating in community service, promoting recreational activities for youths and entering and winning many official events.

The N.T. Heung Yee Kuk Yuen Long District Secondary School’s 37th annual Speech Day was held on 18th December, 2008 at the school hall.

Hong Kong Institute of Engineers Potential Engineering Students Selection
Every year, the Hong Kong Institute of Engineers offers a prize to not more than 10 secondary six potential engineering students in Hong Kong in recognition of their academic merits, extra-curricular activities, leadership qualities and personalities.
This year, after several stages of selection processes and interviews,
6B Lee Yiu Shing Philip has been chosen to be one of the seven awardees, receiving a certificate and a scholarship of two thousand dollars.

Heung Yee Kuk Sports Day 2008
Spirits were high on October 23rd, as the students and staff of N.T. Heung Yee Kuk Yuen Long District Secondary School gathered for their annual Sports Day at Yuen Long stadium.
The various house cheering teams came fully prepared for the day ahead,
and wasted no time in unleashing their chants in support of their house mates.

The New Territories Outstanding Students Selection
Despite the keen competition among secondary students from eight districts of the New Territories,
S.4 Chow Hiu-yan has been selected as one of the ten awardees in the New Territories Outstanding Students Selection,
organized by the Federation of the New Territories Youth, for her excellent performance in academic studies, extra- curricular activities and social services.
For this achievement, she was awarded a trophy, a certificate and a cash coupon worth HK$1,000.

A day of thrills and skills for Heung Yee Kuk swimmers
Neither a thunderstorm warning nor a rain delay could dampen the spirits of NT Heung Yee Kuk Yuen Long District Secondary School students as they gathered at Yuen Long Swimming Pool for the 25th annual Swimming Gala on Friday,
September 19th. The cheering teams of the four school houses (Hok, Yuen, Chung, Heung) seemed to repel the bad weather by sheer will alone thanks to their relentless cheers, chants and school spirit.

Outstanding Girl Guides Award
The Hong Kong Girl Guides Association organizes the “Outstanding Girl Guides Award” once every three years.
This election aims at appreciating the great efforts paid and contributions made to society by the girl guides. Our student, 6B Chan Tsz Yan won the award as one of the top 5 most outstanding girl guides in Hong Kong in this year award after excellent performances in different stages of the selection process and the final interview section.

We Love Hong Kong Ten Outstanding Youngsters Selection
With the aim of encouraging Hong Kong youngsters to love Hong Kong, to serve the community,
to develop leadership talent as well as commending them for their excellent achievement,
the We Love Hong Kong Association organized the We Love Hong Kong Ten Outstanding Youngsters Selection.
