HK SAR Outstanding Students (2010)
With a view to encouraging secondary school students to foster a balanced development among leadership, social awareness and academic achievement, Yuen Long Junior Chamber has organized Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Outstanding Students’ Selection 2010.
For her keen participation in community services and excellent academic performance, S.5 WAN Fong-ying was chosen as one of the ten awardees in the selection.

Hong Kong Outstanding Students Award
S.5 Wan Fong-ying, Fiona, has been selected as one of the ten awardees of the “2009-2010 Hong Kong Outstanding Students Award” organized by the Lion & Globe Educational Trust.
She would like to thank the school for nominating her to take part in such a meaningful event. Also, she would like to express her deepest gratitude to her parents and teachers for their patient nurturing and endless support.

Photography competition organized by the CYC
In order to cultivate students’ civic awareness and sensitivity towards current issues, the Community Youth Club annually holds a photography competition for secondary and primary school students.
This year, they made use of positive messages as themes including treasuring lives, staying away from drugs, protecting the environment and creating a brighter future to help youngsters develop positive values and attitudes towards life.

Outstanding Student Leaders Selection 2009-2010
The Hok Yau Club Potential Development Centre has organized the “Outstanding Secondary School Student Leaders Selection 2009-2010” to recognize and award S.4 to S.7 student leaders who have shown remarkable levels of responsibility and contribution to their schools and society.
After three rounds of interviews, S.6 Lee Yu-yan, Carmen was short-listed to be one of the initial thirty student leaders.
At the final round of interviews, Carmen was ultimately selected as one of ten Outstanding Secondary School Student Leaders.

Prize-giving Ceremony
The 4th Yuen Long District Outstanding Primary School Students Award prize-giving ceremony was successfully held on 17th April, 2010 in N.T. Heung Yee Kuk Yuen Long District Secondary School.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of Prof. Thomas WONG Kwok-shing, Vice President (Management) of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
The presence of the honourable guests Mr. LAU Wong-fat, GBM, JP, Chairman of New Territories Heung Yee Kuk and Ms. Carman CHAN Ka-mun, JP, New Territories Heung Yee Kuk Co-opted member, added prestige to the event.

as NT Heung Yee Kuk Yuen Long Secondary held the finals of their Sports Day.
The event was held at Yuen Long Stadium, and the weather was wonderful

Yuen Long Inter-School Information Technology Olympiad, 2009
Four students from our school joined the Yuen Long District Inter-School Information Technology Olympiad 2009 held on 19th September, 2009.
The competition consisted of three segments: Individual Multiple Choice, Group Multiple Choice and Group Discussion. Despite the notable difficulty of the events,
our four representatives answered all questions to the best of their ability and were awarded as Group Champions. The representatives are as follows:

“I Love My Family” Drawing and Writing Competition
Every year, China Resources Vanguard organizes the “I Love My Family” drawing and writing competition with the aim of encouraging youngsters to develop their creativity and exhibit their talents.
Using “I Love My Family” as the theme,
participants have to express their thoughts on harmonious and loving families.
This year, one of our S.5 students, Wan Fong-ying won the competition and was awarded travel coupons worth HK$10,000 while S.2 student Lee Lai-shan was the second runner up and
was awarded food and beverage coupons worth HK$2,400. Congratulations to them both.

The Careers Committee invited the University of Hong Kong to conduct a talk for our S.7 students to introduce her faculties and admissions information on 29th September, 2009.
Students were eager to seek advice from the speakers and they were able to deepen their understanding of the future lives at the university.

Yuen Long District Outstanding Students Selection 2009
In a bid to recognize and award students in Yuen Long with remarkable performances in their academic studies, social services and extra-curricular activities,
the Federation of Yuen Long Youth has organized the “Yuen Long District Outstanding Student Selection 2009”. After many rounds of selections,
six Heung Chung students were short-listed to attend the final interview, from which S.4 Lo Ka-wing and S.6 Man Hiu-tung stood out and were awarded as the Champion in the Junior Category and the First runner-up in the Senior Category respectively.
They were also recommended as Yuen Long representatives to join the “New Territories Outstanding Students Selection”. Heung Chung was awarded “The Best School Team Award” in appreciation and recognition of the enormous efforts made by the school towards holistic education.
