The New Territories Outstanding Students Selection 2011
S.6 WAN Fong-ying who has shown outstanding performances in her academics, leadership, community service and extra-curricular activities has been selected as one of the ten awardees in the New Territories Outstanding Students Selection 2011 organized by the Federation of the New Territories Youth and the Federation of Outstanding Students. S.6 LEE Yan-ho, Hosea and S.3 LEE Lai-shan have won the merit prizes in the selection.

Yuen Long District Outstanding Students Selection 2011
S.3 LEE Lai-shan and LIM Hiu-ching Jasmine were selected as the Champion and Third runner-up of the Junior Form respectively. S.6 WAN Fong-ying was awarded as the First runner-up of the Senior Form, while CHOW Hiu-yan and LEE Yan-ho Hosea were both awarded as the Second runner-up of the Senior Form.
They were also recommended to join the New Territories Outstanding Students Selection 2011 organized by the Federation of New Territories Youth.

After three rounds of interviews, S.6 Lee Yan Ho Hosea and S.4 Lee Oi Yan Sera were short-listed to be two of the initial thirty student leaders. After the final round of interviews, Hosea Lee was ultimately selected as one of ten Outstanding Secondary School Student Leaders.

“Broaden the Vision, Embrace the World”
N.T. Heung Yee Kuk Yuen Long District Secondary School Open Day
The Open Day of N.T. Heung Yee Kuk Yuen Long District Secondary School was successfully held on 1st April 2011.
During this joyful occasion, more than thirty clubs and teams joined hands to bring to life our theme for the Open Day: “Broaden the Vision, Embrace the World”.
The extensive and richly detailed displays in the hall, lobby, covered playground and volleyball court demonstrated our students’ remarkable efforts and creativity,
attracting more than 30 primary schools and 300 guests to come to visit.

The 8th Bridge Building Competition
The Hong Kong Construction Association, the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Hong Kong, and the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education jointly organized the 8th Bridge Building Competition on 12 March 2011 (Bridge-making day) and 26 March 2011 (Testing day).
287 teams participated in the Competition including teams of students from Hong Kong, Macau and mainland China. Our school sent 20 students to the competition in 4 teams. Each team was required to utilize 25 1000mm x 6mm x 6mm wooden sticks and glue to construct a bridge.
On Testing day, after a 2-hour test of the bridges’ weight loading ability, Team 2 of our school (members: Lee Fu Wa, Chau Yu Ting, Wong Man Huen, Liu Lap Kin, Chan Chak Tung) successfully entered the final event along with 17 other groups. Finally, after deliberation and retesting by 12 judges the team won the championship for the "Best Design".

English Drama ‘Guys and Dolls, JR’
Our fellow student, Dai Yan-ting, was selected to play the role of ‘Big Jule’ and ‘General Cartwright’ in the musical group’s production of 'Guys and Dolls, JR’.
The Executive Director of the show was Mr. Cheung Kin-ting, Alfred and was successfully performed on 27 March 2011.

In the New Territories Outstanding Secondary School Business Students Award Scheme 2010/11 organized by the NTGCC Community Service Foundation Limited and Rotary Club of New Territories & Hong Kong Association for Business Education, S.6 Wan Fong-ying, Fiona won the Championship, Leadership Award and Social Service Award.
S.6 Chow Hiu-yan, Joyce won the Merit Award and Best Performance in Art and Sport Award.

Outstanding alumni, Mr. Kwong Tak-kan, Dixon - Exploration of the South Pole
Mr. Kwong Tak-kan, Dixon, had outstanding academic performances throughout his studies in Heung Chung from 2001 to 2008. He attained eight distinctions and four distinctions with one credit in the HKCEE and HKAL respectively.
In addition, Mr. Kwong actively participated in student affairs, working for the well-being of his fellow students.
From 2006 to 2007, he even held the post of Chairperson of the Student Association.

Joint Government Secondary School Staff Development Day --
Teachers visited Guangdong Province to learn more about the local trends in the development of education.
On 18th February 2011, our teachers took part in the Joint Government Secondary School Development Day organized by the Hong Kong Education Bureau.
Together with teachers from Kowloon Technical School, Lung Cheung Government Secondary School, Kwun Tong Kung Lok Government Secondary School and Hotung Secondary School,
our teachers went to Guangzhou to visit Guangzhou University City and the Guangdong Science Center.

'The Yuen Long District Most Outstanding JPC School Club Award 09/10'
Our school received the award of ‘The performance of the Best JPC School Club (Secondary) Award in Yuen Long District 09/10’.
This award aims at giving due recognition to the most dedicated JPC School Club with the most outstanding performance.
Our JPC School Club made every effort in assisting the police in the fight against crime, participating in community service,
promoting recreational activities for youths and having outstanding achievement in a wide range of official events.

Hong Kong Olympiad in Informatics, 2011
Four students from our school were short-listed to join the final event of the Hong Kong Olympiad in Informatics, 2011 held on 4th December 2010.
The competition examines candidates’ analytical power and programming skills. Despite the keen competition, our representatives were able to perform well and won the following awards:

Yuen Long Inter-School Information Technology Olympiad, 2010
Eight students from our school joined the Yuen Long Inter-School Information Technology Olympiad 2010 held on 3rd July 2010. The competition consisted of three segments: Individual Multiple Choice, Group Multiple Choice and Group Discussion. Despite the notable difficulty of the events, our representatives answered all questions to the best of their ability and were awarded as Group Champions. The representatives are as follows:
