Precautionary Measures to Prevent the Spread of Influenza in School

Our school takes the following precautions against influenza:

  • the school would be cleaned and disinfected regularly;
  • alcohol-based handrub would be placed in the campus such as covered-playground; toilets are provided with liquid soap and disposable towels for the use of students;
  • classroom doors and windows would be opened to maintain good ventilation;
  • Students should have their body temperature taken when entering the school premise;

To cooperate with the school's precautionary measures, parents are requested to closely observe the following measures:

  • children with symptoms of influenza should consult their doctor promptly, wear a surgical mask, and take rest at home and refrain from going to school.
  • children should be reminded of the following:
    ◆Keep hands clean and wash hands properly. Alcohol-based handrub is also effective when hands are not visibly soiled.
    ◆Avoid touching mouth, nose or eyes.
    ◆Wash hands with liquid soap promptly if they are dirtied by respiratory secretions, e.g. after sneezing or coughing.
    ◆Cover nose and mouth when sneezing or coughing.
    ◆Do not spit. Always wrap nasal and mouth discharges with tissue paper, and dispose of the tissue paper properly in a rubbish bin with a lid.
    ◆Wear a mask when respiratory symptoms or fever develop. See a doctor right away.
    ◆Do not go to work or school if you develop influenza-like symptoms.
